The NEF Inter-School Regional & National Equestrian Tournaments aims to give young riders in Nigerian schools a chance to represent their schools in equestrian competitions and encourages them to improve their skills alongside their team members and peers. The Tournaments aims to secure the future of talented young riders by providing them with new opportunities and giving them a solid foundation to become athletes or champions in sports and life. Winning Teams are sponsored to compete at national and international shows.
The NEF Equine Assisted Psychotherapy & Rehabilitation Programme aims to apply horse therapy as a powerful tool in the rehabilitation of children and adults who have experienced early life failures, at-risk youths and people with intellectual challenges, also offering counseling, equine assisted psychotherapy, and learning.
The NEF Equestrian Summer Camp & Clinic for kids and teens is a 3-day training clinic aimed at boys and girls of all experience levels, from complete beginners to children who are used to horse riding on a regular basis. The idea is to enjoy the summer camp exposing participants to a world of horses through a range of activities including rider fitness, mounted and unmounted coaching, test riding, lectures, games, competitions, party and lots of fun.
The program teaches activities and skills that are fundamental to success in horseback riding. It’s a core skill building program that benefits all disciplines. It is also a safe opportunity to introduce the sport to children we hope will become passionate and continue to progress in the sport. Participants are matched with a horse or pony for their entire session allowing them to connect and progress together. Exceptional participants are awarded educational scholarships.
The NEF Equestrian Talent Search plays an important role in discovering young riders and developing their skills to lay a groundwork for future national and international successes. The program consists of qualifying classes held across the country and the finals held each December
The NEF Hall of Fame & Charity Ball. Induction into the Nigeria Equestrian Federation Hall of Fame is the highest honour awarded within equestrian sports in Nigeria. The award recognizes and immortalizes the legends of the men, women, horses and businesses who have made outstanding contributions to equestrian sports in Nigeria. Inductees include past and present association presidents, volunteers, riders, founding members, course designers, officials, organizers, horses, horse owners, coaches, sponsors/supporters and businesses. The Charity Ball offers opportunity to raise funds for the various charity objectives of the Federation.
The NEF Endurance Championship is a national endurance riding championship opened to general and junior categories, over a distance of 40-160kms. Endurance riding is the fastest growing equestrian sport in the world and one of the few sports where men and women compete alongside each other with equal opportunities and where families can take part together with children and teenagers riding alongside adults.
The NEF Equestrian League National Championships is an annual national championship focused on jumping and dressage disciplines, for individual and team categories.
The NEF Eventing Championship is a 3- day equestrian competition across the three disciplines of show jumping, dressage and cross-country, in both team and individual competition.
